Dave's Beast Wars Page
Since we've hit another slow news day, here is a site of general interest to fans. Dave writes great reviews, keeps track of new toy sightings, and has a fair amount of inside info himself. Bookmark his page, as he updates a few times a week.

"Decepticons Mistake Auto Show For Autobot Base, 19 Dead"
Our own Dru scanned this from a student newspaper. A nicely done tongue-in-cheek report if I do say so myself.

Early draft of Transformers The Movie script.
Mopedicon brings us a look at an early version of Friedman's script. Many scenes differ from the final version, but in minor ways. Hard to say if its a fake or not, but its an interesting read.

Hasbro Pre-Toyfair Catalog
Trent, in conjunction with xAutobotx, brings us scans of the infamous preview guide for retailers. No mention of Transtech or CR, but a look at some of what is planned for the remaining BM figures.
Get a load of Snarl... he's on a BFTS card, with a picture of Primal on the bubble and the name "OPTIMUS PRIME" on the front. You don't suppose this was a mock up do you?

New Takara TF Series in 2001?
The linked picture came out either yesterday or today, and was announced by Takara as "A New Hero for 2001." While there is a possibility that this could be a Brave series, Japanese magazine Telebe says that there will be a new Takara TF series over there by the fall. Credit to God Ginrai of TFW2005's message board.
[Update] Sources indicate that this is a picture from Brave, however, this doesn't mean that Takara won't churn out new Transformers by year's end.
[Addendum] The picture has appeared in another Japanese magazine alongside the second wave of G-One PVCs, with some familiar Japanese characters beside it. Open This Link in another window to see for yourself.

Toy Fair information on Sunday
Allspark Spoiler Master and all around good guy Shockwave will be attending the Toronto Toyfair this weekend. While not quite as big as the New York Toyfair in February, there may still be a hefty amount to learn about the 2001 lines. He's been teasing about information he already knows to be true, hopefully this official event will loosen his lips a little bit.

Can I borrow ten thousand bucks?
Its a slow news day, so we might as well show you this. Aside from variants, this is every Hasbro Transformer produced during the Generation One era from 1984 to 1990. If nothing else you can get a kick out of seeing the sizes of all of them standing side by side. Devastator, Shockwave, Metroplex, Blaster... all roughly the same height. And they complain about Beast Machines sizes!
It should be noted that the price is very high, even for the number of toys that are being offered. This auction has been put up several times with no bidders so far as I know. The Seller would be better off making individual deals or holding on to them until Botcon. Still, if I were more financially well endowed, I'd be sorely tempted to have an instant collection.

Not exactly related to the usual TFnews content, but definitely an interesting look at things to come.

Videoflicks is the first retailer to offer the much rumored and even more anticipated Beast Wars Season One DVD pack. The set appears to be 140 minutes, which is roughly 7 episodes. Subsequent sets will fill out the series, as well as the sequel series Beast Machines.
As of right now, the price point looks to be $19.99 and will be available on March 13, 2001.

IGN's New Toy Times
Fellow fan Mike Miksch reports on the new Dinobot pictures found a few days ago. While Mike can't quite report as quickly as info trickles through the fan community due to his column being weekly, his efforts are certainly appreciated, as they do reach non-fans, and those who may be potential fans. Click through to support further toy and Transformer coverage at IGN, and to feed Mike's ego. (ha!)

*RUMOR*Gigatron in US
A very reliable source close to TFnews brings an unconfirmed report that Gigatron may be released to Target stores exclusively this spring. He will be in the "Devil" colors, but will not have that name for obvious reasons. Its also speculated that Gigatron will be marketed much as Magmatron was, but in Beast Machines packaging, and advertising "technorganic vehicle modes"
Another source informs that Car Robots will be renamed "Robots In Disguise" for US audiences, and that it will in fact be used as filler until a more well planned 2002 series.
Seem like conflicting thoughts? Maybe, but Toyfair is right around the corner, and after that networks unveil fall schedules. It won't be long before we know who is right and who is wrong.

Savage Noble toy pics
Thanks to Shivkala of the AllSpark for pointing out a Japanese page with images of the toy Savage Noble. The thread with this also has information about the name of the toy, gimmicks and whatnot.
The entire page can be found here. You can also use this link to go to the page after it's been put through a translator. I recommend doing that, as there is some interesting commentary to be found, such as "Do you have a passion for the head?" and "Stupid a little." No really, I mean it.

There is also a "Battle For The Spark" Contest. Grand prize is $2500 worth of computer hard/software, a digital camera, and the entire Beast Machines line. Runner up prizes are the new Mega Rattrap and the as-yet unreleased Mega Optimus Primal. foxkids.com has yet to add it to the page, but expect it to be up in a few days.
Gee, just in time for Beast Machines to go off the air.

One Bottalk member has shed a little more light on to the possible Fox Kids/Car Robots rumors. A more interesting bit of news is that Renaud has more-or-less confirmed the validity of the information within this thread.

One Page Preview of Botcon Comic
This comic will bridge the gap from Beast Wars to Beast Machines, and by the looks of this page, the side story may very well be more interesting than Beast Machines was!
Also updated is the Vehicon Alert page, with profiles of three new Wreckers. Thanks to Chronoscythe & Swoop.
